Ordinary Technology Points are awarded every time your character levels up, so the fastest source is fast levelling — mainly catching Pals. Ancient Technology Points are separate and come only from defeating or catching Alpha Pals, dungeon bosses and Syndicate Tower bosses.

Palworld has two technology currencies and mixing them up is the single most common source of confusion.

If a recipe shows a gold/ancient icon, no amount of levelling will unlock it — you need bosses.

Getting ordinary Technology Points faster

Since they come from levelling, the answer is the same as how to level up fast:

Catch Pals, never kill them. Every capture grants XP and every tenth capture of a species pays a milestone bonus.
Run dungeons in loops. Clear, leave, fast travel away and back to regenerate the interior.
Hatch eggs. Each hatch grants XP, so a running hatchery levels you passively.
Collect Lifmunk Effigies. They raise capture power, which raises catch success, which raises XP.

Getting Ancient Technology Points

There is exactly one method: beat bosses.

Open the Alpha Pal layer on our interactive map.
Pick three or four Alphas near unlocked fast travel statues at or below your gear level.
Fight each, catching rather than killing where possible.
Repeat the circuit after an in-game day, when Alphas respawn.

Dungeon bosses and Syndicate Tower bosses also award them, with towers giving the largest single payouts. The same fights drop Ancient Civilization Parts, the physical material many of those blueprints then consume — you generally need both.

What to unlock first

With ordinary points:

Egg Incubator (also needs ancient parts) — unlocks the whole breeding system
Berry and Wheat Plantations plus the Mill — the Cake chain
Breeding Farm at level 19
Metal Pickaxe — required for Coal, Sulfur and Quartz
Backpack upgrades — carry weight limits everything

With ancient points:

Egg Incubator, then more incubators
Grappling gun — the biggest mobility upgrade in the game
High-tier Pal Spheres
Pal Gear saddles

Respeccing

If you spent points badly, merchants sell a Technology Point reset item. It refunds ordinary points so you can respend them. Plan around it rather than hoarding: unspent points do nothing.
