Mount Obsidian is the volcanic region in the south-west of Palpagos Island. Reach it by flying mount or on foot from the desert, and bring strong heat protection plus high-level gear, as it holds some of the highest-level Pals in the game.

Getting there

Flying mount — by far the easiest. You can cross the intervening terrain directly and land near a statue to unlock a fast travel point.
On foot from the desert — possible, slow, and you take heat damage the whole way.

Basing there

A volcanic base is an endgame project, not an early one. The terrain is steep, raids are harder, and food logistics are awkward. If you do build:

Find one of the rare flat shelves rather than fighting the slope
Bring your own food supply chain; local farming is poor
Assign combat Pals for defence, not just workers

For most players a fast travel point plus a flying mount is the better answer — visit for materials and boss fights, keep production at your grassland and desert bases.

Do it after the towers

Mount Obsidian rewards gear you get from earlier progression. Clear the earlier regions, run Alphas for levels, build out your breeding pipeline for strong Pals, and arrive prepared. Turning up early is a long walk to a quick death.
