- The volcanic region in the south-east. Coal is plentiful here but so are high-level Fire Pals, and the ambient heat is worse.
- Some mountain and cave interiors contain smaller deposits, useful in a pinch but not worth a dedicated trip.

What you need before going
- A Metal Pickaxe or better. Coal nodes ignore the stone pickaxe.
