How do you get Fiber in Palworld?

Checked by the Palworld Breeding Calculator teamNumbers pulled from the game's own 1.0 data files, then tested in game. How we check

Answer

Fiber is gathered by hitting the tall grass, bushes and plant clusters scattered across the starting grasslands with any tool, including bare hands. Certain Pals such as Melpaca and Lamball also drop it, and a Plantation base with the right Pals can produce it passively.

Short version

Fiber is one of the easiest materials in Palworld to stock up on. Swing at the fibrous plant clusters and tall grass patches found across almost every region, or pick up drops from common early Pals like Lamball and Melpaca. No pickaxe or axe tier requirement gates it, so it is available from the first minute of the game.

How we farm it without wasting time

  1. In the early game, simply run through the starting grasslands hitting every plant cluster you pass — Fiber accumulates fast without any detour.
  2. Catch rather than fight Lamball, Melpaca and other Fiber-dropping Pals you encounter; you get the material plus capture XP.
  3. Once you unlock a Cotton Plantation, assign a Pal with a Planting affinity to it so Fiber trickles in automatically between play sessions.
  4. If you need a large batch quickly for a build project, loop a dense grassland area near a fast travel statue rather than wandering — see the fast travel guide for planning routes.

Why you want it

Fiber feeds an enormous number of early recipes: basic tools, the first tier of Pal Spheres, string-based crafting steps, and early base structures like fences and simple furniture. It also converts into Cloth at a Handiwork station, which then feeds cloth armour and other textile gear. Because so many recipes want small amounts of Fiber, it rarely becomes a bottleneck — most players end a session with a surplus.

Can Fiber be farmed passively?
Yes, a Cotton Plantation staffed with a Planting-affinity Pal produces Fiber over time without manual harvesting.
