How do you get Dog Coins in Palworld?
Answer
Dog Coins are Palworld's gold currency, earned by selling Pals and surplus items to merchants, looting chests and dungeons, and defeating Syndicate enemies. The fastest reliable method is catching common Pals in bulk and selling duplicates to a Pal Merchant.
Gold in Palworld is called Dog Coins, and it matters more than most players expect — seeds, spheres, ammunition and the technology reset item all cost money.
The fastest source: selling Pals
Pal Merchants buy Pals for gold, and the price scales with rarity. Two approaches:
Bulk common Pals
Catch everything in a grassland loop and sell the duplicates. Individually small, but a farming loop that already gives you Leather and capture XP produces gold as a side effect.
Bred surplus
Once a Breeding Farm is running, every project generates children you do not want — wrong passives, wrong gender, wrong species. Selling those is the highest-value gold source in the game, because bred Pals are often high-rarity.
Keep the ones with useful passives, sell the rest. Our breeding calculator tells you what a pair will produce first, so you can avoid pairs that generate worthless surplus.
Other reliable income
| Source | Notes |
|---|---|
| Selling loot | Surplus ore, ingots and drops all sell |
| Dungeon chests | Gold plus Ancient Technology Points |
| Syndicate enemies | Drop gold and gear when defeated |
| Ruins and world chests | Scattered across the map |
| Merchant arbitrage | Some items sell for more than they cost elsewhere |
Dungeon runs are the best combined trip: gold, Ancient Civilization Parts, materials and XP in one loop. Dungeon entrances are marked on our interactive map.
What to spend it on first
- Wheat Seeds from the Small Settlement merchant — this starts the Cake chain and therefore breeding
- Other seeds for berries and tomatoes
- Pal Spheres when you are farming faster than you can craft
- Ammunition, once firearms are your main damage
- Technology reset item, if your tree needs fixing
Do not kill merchants
It is tempting, and it makes you wanted. More importantly, merchants are your seed supply and your Pal sales outlet. Removing one from your world costs far more than the gold on their body.
Passive gold
A base that produces surplus — ingots from a mining base, food from plantations — generates sellable stock while you are away. Late game, most players' gold arrives this way rather than from active farming.
Frequently asked questions
- What are Dog Coins used for in Palworld?
- They buy Wheat and other seeds, Pal Spheres, ammunition, technology reset items, Pals from the Pal Merchant and various crafting materials from settlement merchants.
- What is the fastest way to make money in Palworld?
- Catch common Pals in bulk and sell the duplicates to a Pal Merchant. High-rarity Pals sell for far more, so selling surplus bred Pals is even better once breeding is running.
- Can you farm Dog Coins from chests?
- Yes. Chests in dungeons and around ruins contain gold, and dungeon runs also award Ancient Technology Points, so they are efficient double-duty trips.
