Once you unlock the Meat Cleaver, you can butcher Pals in your Pal Box. Butchering a Leather-dropping Pal returns Leather plus meat, which turns your surplus captures into materials. Because you are already catching in bulk to farm, butchering duplicates roughly doubles the yield per loop.

Passive Leather from a Ranch
Vixy placed on a Ranch periodically produces items including Pal Spheres and Leather-adjacent drops, so a Ranch with several Vixy assigned gives a slow trickle of materials with no effort. It will not replace active farming, but it removes the panic when a recipe needs three more Leather.
