How do you get Panthalus in Palworld?

Answer
Panthalus cannot be bred in Palworld. It must be caught in the wild or obtained from its boss encounter using Pal Spheres and enough damage to lower its health first.
What actually happens
Panthalus has no breeding recipe. The only way to add it to your Paldex is to find and capture it in the world.
Panthalus is a Water / Dark element Pal. It has 180 HP, 120 Attack and 200 Defence at base, and appears in the wild between level 1 and 50.
Why Panthalus cannot be bred
A small group of Pals — mostly legendaries and special encounters — are excluded from the breeding table entirely. Panthalus is one of them, so no pair of parents will ever produce it. Catching it is the only route.
How breeding actually works
Palworld's 1.0 breeding uses a combi-rank system. Each Pal has a hidden rank, and an ordinary pair produces the species whose rank is closest to floor((rankA + rankB + 1) / 2). On top of that sit roughly 150 unique recipes that override the maths entirely — those are the ones that create variants and legendaries.
The step-by-step process:
- Build a Breeding Farm from the technology tree.
- Place a male and a female Pal inside — gender matters, species order does not.
- Keep Cake in the feed box. Without it, no egg is produced.
- Collect the egg and put it in an Egg Incubator.
- Adjust the incubator temperature with a Heater or Cooler to hatch faster.
Full detail, including Cake ingredients and passive-skill inheritance, is in our breeding guide and egg incubation guide.
Catching Panthalus instead
Breeding is usually faster than hunting, but a wild capture gives you a Pal immediately and counts toward Paldex capture bonuses. Wild Panthalus appear between level 1 and 50. Lower its health, apply a status effect or attack from behind for the capture bonus, then throw the best sphere you can craft.
Capturing ten of the same species grants a permanent Paldex capture bonus for it, which is a strong reason to keep catching duplicates rather than fleeing once you have one.
Passive skills worth breeding for
Children can inherit passives from either parent, so the real goal is rarely just the species — it is the species with the right traits:
- Combat: Legend, Musclehead, Ferocious, Burly Body
- Work Pals: Artisan, Serious, Lucky, Work Slave
- Mounts: Runner, Nimble, Swift
Breed the child back with a well-rolled partner and repeat. The legendary breeding guide walks through a full four-passive chain.
