How do you get Shadowbeak in Palworld?

Answer
Breed Shadowbeak with Shadowbeak at a Breeding Farm to get Shadowbeak in Palworld. That pair is a fixed unique recipe, so it always produces this Pal. You can also catch Shadowbeak in the wild with Pal Spheres.
What actually happens
Put Shadowbeak and Shadowbeak (one male, one female) in a Breeding Farm with a Cake in the feed box. The egg they produce hatches into Shadowbeak.
Shadowbeak is a Dark element Pal whose best work suitabilities are Gathering Lv2. It has 120 HP, 120 Attack and 140 Defence at base, and appears in the wild between level 50 and 80.
Every parent pair that produces Shadowbeak
There is 1 combination in the verified 1.0 breeding table. These are the most practical:
| Parent A | Parent B | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Shadowbeak | Shadowbeak | Unique recipe |
You can confirm any of these with the breeding calculator.
How breeding actually works
Palworld's 1.0 breeding uses a combi-rank system. Each Pal has a hidden rank, and an ordinary pair produces the species whose rank is closest to floor((rankA + rankB + 1) / 2). On top of that sit roughly 150 unique recipes that override the maths entirely — those are the ones that create variants and legendaries.
Shadowbeak has a unique recipe, which means the result is guaranteed rather than rank-based.
The step-by-step process:
- Build a Breeding Farm from the technology tree.
- Place a male and a female Pal inside — gender matters, species order does not.
- Keep Cake in the feed box. Without it, no egg is produced.
- Collect the egg and put it in an Egg Incubator.
- Adjust the incubator temperature with a Heater or Cooler to hatch faster.
Full detail, including Cake ingredients and passive-skill inheritance, is in our breeding guide and egg incubation guide.
Catching Shadowbeak instead
Breeding is usually faster than hunting, but a wild capture gives you a Pal immediately and counts toward Paldex capture bonuses. Wild Shadowbeak appear between level 50 and 80. Lower its health, apply a status effect or attack from behind for the capture bonus, then throw the best sphere you can craft.
Capturing ten of the same species grants a permanent Paldex capture bonus for it, which is a strong reason to keep catching duplicates rather than fleeing once you have one.
Passive skills worth breeding for
Children can inherit passives from either parent, so the real goal is rarely just the species — it is the species with the right traits:
- Combat: Legend, Musclehead, Ferocious, Burly Body
- Work Pals: Artisan, Serious, Lucky, Work Slave
- Mounts: Runner, Nimble, Swift
Breed the child back with a well-rolled partner and repeat. The legendary breeding guide walks through a full four-passive chain.
